The Main Contenders for NFL Glory Next Season

With Super Bowl LIX consigned to history, all 32 NFL teams will look forward to a busy eight months until they do it all again in the 2025 season.

It will be a crucial few months for several teams, with those who came up short last season fully aware that they’ll need to make the best of the Draft, trades, and free-agent signings.

Yet, even at this early stage of the offseason, we can still pick out several teams that – on paper at least – look like they will be contenders again next season.

Of course, things can change dramatically in the coming months, but it’s still the case that a handful of teams we pinpoint now should be among the betting favorites when the season gets underway in September.

Let’s look at who could be in that bracket:

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs might have failed to get the historic “three-peat,” but they remain the closest thing the NFL has to a dynasty.

Despite reaching the Super Bowl, the Chiefs were unimpressive for large portions of the regular season, winning games by ultra-tight margins, which is something to keep in mind with NFL point spread betting.

Even so, the Chiefs will be considered one of the teams to beat. They remain co-favorites for the Super Bowl with the next team on this list.

Philadelphia Eagles

NFL history is littered with teams that put up disappointing defenses for their Super Bowl crown.

However, the Eagles are the reigning champions, and you would expect them to be in the mix again.

A key consideration will be the form of quarterback Jalen Hurts, who finally showed that he could be an elite performer when it mattered last season.

Expectations will be higher than ever going into the 2025 campaign.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens are an interesting addition to this list. Much has been expected of them in the last few seasons, which is understandable when the team has such a deep roster led by superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson.

However, the team has tended to come up short in the Playoffs. The pressure will be on the Ravens players and coaches to deliver on the team’s massive potential because the fans are getting restless.

Buffalo Bills

Talking about pressure, the Bills were plenty of experts’ picks for Super Bowl LIX. The Bills looked brilliant throughout the regular season, underlined by the form of MVP-level quarterback Josh Allen.

Like the Ravens, the Bills couldn’t raise their game when the chips were down in the Playoffs, exiting, relatively limply, at the hands of the Chiefs.

The city of Buffalo is crying out for a championship – in any sport – yet the Bills seem best placed to deliver that.

Detroit Lions

At several points last season, the Lions were considered favorites for the Super Bowl. They merited that tag, arguably playing the best offensive football we have seen in the NFL for several years.

A painful defeat to the Washington Commanders ended a campaign that promised so much. But the Lions’ roster is stacked with talent, and they should be back in contention for Super Bowl LX.
